The Faculty Academy on Excellence in Teaching (FACET) is a dynamic community of faculty recognized for and dedicated to teaching excellence. FACET hosts events such as FALCON and the FACET retreat as well as hosts and co-sponsors events on all IU campuses, administers grants, fellowships, and peer review training open to all faculty, peer reviews upon a faculty member's request, and more. They provide, lead, and contribute to many university-wide initiatives, particularly those dedicated to student success, teaching excellence, and continuous improvement.
The Mosaic Initiative supports innovative classroom design, research, and active learning in all IU classrooms. It encourages broad engagement and conversation about the intersections of space, technology and pedagogy across Indiana University through interactive tours, faculty workshops, observations of Mosaic classrooms, in-classroom consultations, and a yearlong exploration of active learning and learning spaces across Indiana University.
The Digital Gardener Initiative is a faculty-driven commitment to connect members of the IU community working in digital literacy. The initiative aims to share best practices and grow successful programs across the university to prepare students for an increasingly digital world.
The Extended Reality Faculty Fellows program offers faculty technical and instructional support, along with funding, to integrate Augmented Reality (AR) or Virtual Reality (VR) assignments, projects, or activities into their courses to enhance student learning and success at IU. Fellows are introduced to these technologies to inspire their use in course development.
At IU we strive for an inclusive and equitable learning environment that supports student success for all students regardless of their diverse backgrounds. This endeavor requires ongoing reflection, reevaluation, and development of our teaching and learning culture. IU supports this endeavor at the university and campus levels.
Badges and certicates provide opportunities to document the development of your teaching practice.
Elements is designed to organize, manage, and report on faculty activities and CV data. The One.IU landing page includes screen shots and links to other help resources. This report has been updated with a much improved way to document whether faculty work should be considered a diversity indicator.
IU's distinguished teaching awards call attention to the importance of teaching and recognize those who have demonstrated excellence in a wide range of pedagogical activities.
